Christian Søndergaard Krone is a senior consultant at Tana Copenhagen. He is an economist with more than 17 years of experience with international development assistance and has experience with all phases of the project/programme cycle and has been actively involved in design, appraisal, implementation, monitoring and review of programmes. Throughout his career he has conducted 100+ financial monitoring visits to all types of institutions/grant recipients.
He has extensive experience as team leader and expert from working in multicultural settings and teams. In addition to his consultancies in Tana Copenhagen, Christian draws on his previous experience as Chief Advisor of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Denmark, CFO position at the Embassy in Bangladesh, Anti-corruption advisor with UNDP Afghanistan, Head of department at Copenhagen Business school, short term advisor in Nepal and Indonesia and most recently as Group Chief Financial Officer in a leading digital marketing company in Indonesia.
Christian has extensive experience with Programme management incl. administration and financial management: hands-on experience in designing, managing and reviewing Danida projects and programmes including partner financial management systems. Prior postings to Bangladesh & Afghanistan with hands-on knowledge of Danida programmes and with an understanding of the implementation challenges when operating in a difficult security context.
Christian has experience with Institutional and Capacity assessments: Experience in assessing institutional capacity during programme design and during review missions. Examples include formulation of new programmes while posted in Bangladesh, appraisal mission to assess the institutional capacity of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in South Korea, review mission to Ghana to assess the capacity of the Ghana Audit Service, carry out a vulnerability to corruption assessment of the Ministry of Interior in Afghanistan.
Within Monitoring and Evaluation Christian has carried out performance reviews in all Danida programme countries, which included monitoring of progress at an overall level. At programme/project level – and while posted in Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Indonesia – he has carried out monitoring visits to assess progress primarily within financial management. Finally, he has expert knowledge about Danida Aid Management Guidelines within monitoring – being an author of many of the guidelines himself. Finally, he has conducted 100+ financial monitoring visits to various types of institutions/grant recipients to monitor & assess the capacity and performance, primarily within financial management.
