Mission statement
Tana Copenhagen is committed to minimising our environmental footprint and fostering sustainability in all aspects of our operations. We recognize that we have a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. Improving our environmental performance is an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. Tana Copenhagen is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the UN. These goals guide us in addressing various areas of our work, including our Environmental Policy. Furthermore, we are proud to align our practices with the UN Global Compact principles, which encompass human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. This commitment reflects our dedication to operating responsibly, ethically, and sustainably.
Responsibility
The sustainability committee is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the environmental policy and driving sustainability initiatives across all departments, with the focal point being Nadia Siegler-Lathrop (consultant). The committee consists of employees from all departments, including management, and meets regularly to review and discuss potential improvements. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
Policy aims
Our objectives are to enhance employee awareness of environmental issues, minimise energy consumption, and reduce waste generation. We will continuously strive to improve and reduce our environmental impacts.
Enhance Employee Awareness of environmental issues
- We will update this policy as needed in consultation with staff and other stakeholders.
- We will produce and publish an annual sustainability report.
- We will engage with environmental initiatives in our proposals and business development.
- We will consider the environmental effects of our projects.
- Periodically we will review our progress on our environmental impacts.
Minimise Energy Consumption
- We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible.
- The energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be taken into account when purchasing.
- We will reduce the need to travel, restricting it to necessary trips only.
- We will promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing.
Reduce Waste Generation
- We will prioritize the use of recycled or eco-friendly office supplies.
- We will buy locally/sustainably sourced products or use sustainable suppliers (e.g. fruits, coffee, tea).
- We will reuse and recycle as much as possible and minimise our waste.
- We will minimise the use of paper in the office.
As part of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact, Tana has partnered with EcoTree, a nature-based solutions provider that grows and maintains sustainably managed forests across Europe. We own 150 trees as part of our commitment to tackling climate change. A tree captures an average of 25kg of CO2 per year. Tana contributes to climate protection by annually contributing to global carbon neutrality.
