Human Rights Based Approach

The Background paper on the Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) is part of a series of Tana good practice guides. It should be read in conjunction with the HRBA How-To Note that aims at offering guidance on how to apply these findings in practice in assignments. As you will notice, the Background paper presents a more complete analysis of HRBA and looks at the comprehensive full-fledged HRBA approach. This approached inspired Tana’s approach, while not being reflected 100%. While targeting Tana staff and associates first, these are tools, we hope, which will prove useful for partners and others. Tana Guidance Note on Theory of Change

Theory of Change (ToC) is a specific approach and methodology used in planning, participation, and evaluation within development practices. Theory of Change provide an opportunity to look closer at the assumptions behind what drives change for a given implementing organisation or donor. It also focuses on the specific role of the development actor in contributing to the desired change. Tana believes that the ToC approach gives an interesting and needed dimension to programme formulations and evaluations and has developed a practice paper for how we understand and work with it.
