Assistance to Drafting Documentation for the Transition Programme in Afghanistan

The Danish strategy “The World We Share” reiterates a clear political commitment to continue Danish support to Afghanistan. For twenty years Denmark had had this bilateral engagement using combined efforts in development, humanitarian, stabilisation, diplomacy and defence to support security and development of the country – however, the Afghan country context underwent significant changes during events in August 2021. From August 2021, Denmark has frozen Danish development engagements through government controlled structures and continued (and increased) humanitarian support to Afghanistan. In February 2022, it was decided to reactivate programming of development assistance to support lifesaving, preventive and rights-based interventions. This will take the form of a one-year Transition Programme until the expected new multi-annual Strategic Framework for Afghanistan and Bilateral Development Programme are developed.

Tana Copenhagen has been assigned to assist the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the process of drafting programme documentation up to final approval of the Danish Transition Programme for Afghanistan, with a particular focus on  documentation for the proposed bilateral development projects under the Finance Bill 2022.
